Julian Barnett creates performances that examine the social-political possibilities for transformation and empathy. His works have been presented throughout North America, Asia, Europe, and commissions include, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, Juilliard, The Joyce (NY), Kampnagel (Hamburg), La Briqueterie-CDC- Val-de-Marne (Paris), and the i-Dance Festival (Hong Kong), amongst others. Julian received a New York Dance and Performance “Bessie” award nomination for outstanding performer and has performed with Johannes Wieland, Larry Keigwin, Steve Paxton, Jeanine Durning, Lar Lubovich, Doug Elkins, the Metropolitan Opera with Doug Varone, and more. Born in japan Julian lives between NYC and Vermont.
