Curbside Culture

Making Dances I Building Community

Invite us to your lawn, driveway, or porch as we playfully create movement, navigating social and spatial games. Ormao embraces dance as an art form, a celebration of human connection, expression, and diverse life experience. With a two-decade history of excellence in the arts, Ormao’s award-winning, professional modern dance company presents performances that are wildly original; from construction zones, art museums and abandoned warehouses to traditional theaters. An 8-time recipient of the Pikes Peak Arts Council award for choreography, Ormao creatively embraces making dances for specific outdoor locations.

Nationally recognized choreographers regularly contribute to our diverse repertory with content that provokes, challenges, and entertains while encouraging diversity and tolerance.  Photo credits: Melanie and Tyler Photography

Curbside Culture is a new program that brings the performing arts out into the community by facilitating small-scale live performances, in appropriately social-distanced circumstances, outside of private residences, places of business, and other gathering spots. Download the program flyer.

A program of the Cultural Office of the Pikes Peak Region, Curbside Culture offers community members an enjoyable arts experience, and a meaningful way to support local performing artists during the COVID-19 pandemic.

As a Curbside Culture host site, you will be responsible for (1) providing electricity by running an extension cord to the street or performance location, and (2) gathering a small audience to enjoy the performance (please follow current social distancing guidelines). Pricing and performance options are listed below, and all financial transactions should be conducted directly with the performer, in a mutually convenient manner.

  • 15 Minute Performance: $175
  • 30 Minute Performance: $275
